By 2010, the Group had diversified into multiple sectors, offering an impressive portfolio of global brands. It had become one of the leading conglomerates in the UAE.
In 2015 the company completed the development of its newest award-winning offices, located in Al Awir, relocating all of Al Naboodah Construction Group.
A year later in 2016, Al Naboodah Group Enterprises was established to undertake the management of the company’s operating businesses. All corporate functions became headquartered in Al Awir, while the Holding company continued operations from the Al Shoala office in Deira.
Under new leadership, Al Naboodah Group Enterprises formalised its approach to corporate governance and created a sustainability framework. That same year, the Group issued its first GRI-compliant Sustainability Report, with full transparency on the company’s sustainability efforts.
2017 has been witness to a number of major milestones, marked by geographic expansions into new strategic markets and new additions to the Group’s brand portfolio such as Lumez, a self-owned LED lighting line; Dutch truck manufacturer DAF; and the debut of British motorcycle brands Triumph and Royal Enfield into Vietnam. Continued openings of showrooms and retail outlets bought the total number to 34 locations across the UAE, and the Group launched Al Naboodah Design Spaces, its own design and fit-out business.
As the company nears its 60th year of operations, Al Naboodah Group Enterprises is even more committed to preserving its heritage, while working for a sustainable future for the next 60 years and beyond.
As the world moved in to the next century, the Group entered a new phase in development with the 2001 completion of its head office; the Al Shoala Building in Deira, Dubai. Later in the decade the Group went through a rebranding exercise symbolised with the launch of its now well-recognised sun wheel image in 2006 and the merger of the Group's various business units.
The tremendous contribution made by the construction side of the Group was recognised in 2003 when Al Naboodah Engineering received the Dubai Quality Award presented by HE Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. At the time no other 100% UAE owned construction company in Dubai had received such a prestigious award.
Al Naboodah Construction Group saw significant growth and success in this decade with the formal setting up, in 2006, of National Plant & Equipment which currently has over 4,000 items of plant and machinery available for 24 hours a day and 365 days a year.
Also in that year Al Naboodah MEP was formed for mechanical, electrical and plumbing work while, in 2007, Al Naboodah Specialist Services was established to handle micro-tunnelling, directional drilling, landscaping and irrigation works.
In 2008, Al Naboodah Contracting began work on the Al Maktoum International Airport while the Group's Abu Dhabi construction business, which had already been operating there for some years, was formally established as Al Naboodah National Contracting Group and is, amongst others, currently working on two major projects for works on Yas Island and Al Sowwah Island.
Fifty years of business were celebrated in 2008; fifty years in which
Al Naboodah Group Enterprises had grown from a modest trading enterprise to one of the largest and most highly diversified business conglomerates in the UAE, winning contracts such as the supply and maintenance of 518 VDL Citea Low Floor City Buses, from the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai, awarded to Swaidan Trading in 2009.
In 1994, Al Naboodah Ready Mix Concrete (ARCON), was established to meet the Group's ready mix concrete requirements.
Also in that year, a joint venture with Thorn led to the launch of Thorn Gulf which supplies efficient and sustainable lighting solutions.
By the 1980s the Group's profile had been firmly established in Dubai and it was becoming better known across the Emirates and internationally. Swaidan Trading set-up an automotive division and became the exclusive distributor in Dubai and the Northern Emirates for the French company, Peugeot, for cars and light commercial vehicles.
It also set-up a Rubber Division working with US based tyre company Goodyear as its exclusive distributor in the UAE.
With trade growing across the region, it increasingly made sense to investigate options around distribution and in 1984, Al Naboodah Cargo Centre was established.
Specialising in international freight forwarding and third party logistics, the company is now one of the leading operators in its sector.
The 1970s was another busy decade for the Group as it began to build strong relationships internationally and enter new markets such as travel, following the formation in 1973 of Al Naboodah Travel.
Branches now operate across the UAE with the company acting as General Sales Agent for leading airlines such as Air France, Austrian Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Air Canada, Turkish Airlines and as an authorised agent for Club Med.
In 1975, Al Naboodah Real Estate Investment was established adding real estate to the Group's expanding portfolio and today it employs over 90 professionals handling real estate development plus facilities and property management.
Also in that year a gap in the market was identified for electrical trading goods. SMKA Electric was launched and now acts as agent and distributor for a wide variety of electrical products as well as running its own switchgear facility.
By 1979 the main trading arm for the Saeed & Mohammed Al Naboodah Group was established. Swaidan Trading has since expanded rapidly to become one of the most recognised names in the UAE.
Completing a busy decade, Saeed & Mohammed Al Naboodah Holding was set-up in 1979 as the parent company for the Group. Responsible for the overall strategy and control of the business, it is made up of seven departments working on Group initiatives and supporting individual companies.
By the end of the 1960s the business had capital of Dhs 15,000 and was on its way to becoming the diverse business it is today; a journey further accelerated with the company's move in 1969, into construction with the launch of Al Naboodah Contracting. Initially focused on residential and commercial building projects the company later moved on to work on road and civil projects.
Since that time the construction part of the Group has grown in strength, with a 14,000 strong workforce today.
In 1958, brothers Saeed and Mohammed Al Naboodah opened a small shop in Deira and began to trade in agricultural machines.
From a modest investment of only 2,000 rupees, so began the growth of one of today's leading brand names in the UAE - the Saeed and Mohammed Al Naboodah Group.
