The Parallel Roads Project is a series of major infrastructure works commissioned
by the RTA to provide a strategic link between Sheikh Zayed Road and the Inner Ring
Road. This ongoing work has been commissioned to help upgrade the primary infrastructure
and alleviate heavy traffic flow in this densely populated area of Dubai.
Al Naboodah Construction Group was awarded work on Parallel Roads 3b, one of the
key contracts within this project. This work is scheduled for completion in June
2011. It involved extensive service works, both new and refurbishment, plus the
construction of a four lane dual carriageway. All the new and improved networks
have been connected via a series of signalised junctions and grade separated interchanges.
The interchanges are made up of six bridges and three underpasses. Each bridge follow
s the standard post tensioned box girder design, ranging from two lanes to six lanes
in width, and up to 280m long. The three underpasses are heavily reinforced structures,
ranging from 400m to 600m long with two to six lanes wide, finished with
architectural tiling.
