Concourse 3 is an extension and an integral part of the continuous development of Concourses 1 and 2 at Dubai International Airport. Partially an underground structure, including Automated People Moving (APM) stations ,both departing and arriving, the Concourse extends above ground under a metal shell to accommodate 20 aircraft stands; 18 of which are designed to accommodate the new Airbus 380 in addition to holding room for six more aircrafts on remote stands.
Similar to Concourse 2, the building shell of concourse 3, has the same characteristics of size and shape. With an overall footprint of 90 metres by 645 metres on a built area of approximately 528,000 m², the building includes the Emirates Airline lounges and hotels as well as the arrival and departure floors with a duty free area.
Approximately 1 million m3 of reinforced concrete was poured over a two year period, for this contract. It is the single largest contract to date undertaken by Al Naboodah Construction Group, where 7,500 men were employed. |
